Travelled to Majorca this summer. It was me and my children, and my boyfriend accompanied us. After we had been through security, and collected all our items back, my boyfriend was asked his name by a man stood at the end of the lines where you collect your items from. He told him hia name, and the man said okay, and that was it.
I've been wondering why they asked ever since. I can't think of a logical explanation!

Maybe they found something with a name on - e.g. a lost passport or bank card. If your boyfriend wasn't the named person then they just say ok.

Or he fits the description of someone they are looking for.

At the place you describe security are checking inside bags that have been flagged. They get the owner of the bag in front of them before opening the bag.

I'd assume he was looking for a particular owner of a labelled bag

Agree with Crusty.

They would be looking for the owner of a particular bag.
