Has anyone done the £99 mystery holiday thing? Seems too good to be true but would be interested to hear if anyone's done it!

Nooo linky? Sounds interesting

EggysMom · 15/08/2019 18:08

Friend of mine did, got three nights on Majorca. He said it wasn't bad. But he's the kind of person who likes 'surprises' rather than planning.

What is this please? I haven't heard of it and am quite intrigued...

We did one through wowcher, it was rubbish! They said it could be any of these destinations and it was the shittest one, but offered to upgrade to someplace in Europe for an extra £50, so we did. They sent us to a crappy self catering apartment, we had to pay a €300 cash deposit that while we got it back, left us with €300 on our last day. It was very off season, so approx 70% of the bars/shops/restaurants were closed. It snowed in the place for the first time in something like 30 years too. But we laugh about it now!

Following because I've been trying to talk my husband into one of theseGrin

Ticklemeelmo · 15/08/2019 18:19

@TheLovleyChebbyMcGee what country was the original destination they were going to send you to?

NoBaggyPants · 15/08/2019 18:20

There was a long thread oj TripAdvisor about them, can't find it but the general consensus was they're shit. The agent will still be making a good profit off them, which should tell you the quality of accommodation you'll be getting.

Found one thread but there were more. This one tells you enough...

I keep seeing these on groupon getaways, so following...

The first option was Dublin, pretty rubbish considering the options were Dublin, alicante, Portugal, all much further from the UK than Dublin etc. We ended up in lloret de mar. And they buggered up the flights, told us it was the major airport, but in fact it was departing from the one an hours drive away from that one, ie so London luton instead of London heathrow for example.

The snow was nothing to do with wowcher I realise, but it just made for another funny anecdote!
