Immunisation Advice

Hi —

We're planning to visit Greece (Crete) at the end of September this year when our newborn will be 9 weeks old which means he will have just had his 8 week immunisations.

Are we safe travelling to Greece with him then or should we have waited for his 12 and 16 week doses?

I'm hoping it's safe as we've already booked without realising there were further doses after 8 weeks.

Thanks.

He won't be fully covered against any of the diseases that are in the vaccines as multiple doses are needed for some of them. I'm not sure I'd risk it

It will be fine. I'm sure the vaccination programme for babies is the same in Greece as in the UK.

I took my baby daughter to live in Turkey when she was 8 weeks old and she didn't have her first lot of vaccinations until 12 weeks and we had them done out there. I asked my GP before we went and she said it was perfectly fine.

Don't worry :)

It would certainly be a huge financial loss to cancel the holiday Sad
But would obviously put my little ones health first.

It wouldn’t have even crossed my mind not to go. Greece probably follows of a similar vaccination schedule to the U.K. so the risks of your baby getting something they’ve not been fully vaccinated for are probably the same as at home.
