Hi off on holiday for 4 weeks over Xmas for the first time. My only concern is presents and the usual traditions they’ll miss out on. Any experience as this will be the first year presents will need to be limited. Any good ideas for travel presents that won’t take up too much luggage space? Kids are 7, 9 and 11. Still seem to believe in 🎅. We will take elf on the shelf - any one have good suggestions?

if you want to get them a big present still (eg, a bike) you can print out a photo of it waiting at home, and put it in a little box that can be wrapped up. travellingmom has some good elf on the shelf ideas when abroad x

We were away last year and brought the DCs stockings with us. I think that helped the DCs with a little of the usual bits of Christmas. The "big present" was kid-centric side trip at the end of our vacation. The stockings had a lovely note from Santa explaining all this to them.

We went away last year for the month of December first time away for Christmas and away from the family and we loved it. We took small light gifts to give to each other on xmas day only about 4 each and then when we came home we celebrated a late Christmas with all the family and that is when the children and everyone else had the presents. We will defo going away for xmas again.
