Flybe hand luggage size

Used to fly regularly with Flybe and bought hand luggage to fit their size requirement. Haven't used them for a year or so, flying tonight and discover they've changed the size and the bag is now 1cm too wide. But 5cm short and 4 cm shallower than allowed.

Will I be allowed on with it, do you think?

How do we know?! Phone and ask

If overall the volume is less then I don't see why not.

However it is up to the airline. I would call them to check.

Because there's conflicting information; they have a rule but there are accounts of them showing discretion in some cases and being draconian in others. I was wondering if anyone here had direct experience.

I wouldn’t risk it, a new bag of the regulation size will be cheaper than the excess baggage charge.

For reference for anyone else who might be affected, I've phoned as suggested and Flybe say that they haven't changed their size rules but they are enforcing them differently. I've managed to get the bag into their measuring bin before now, so I asked if they've changed the bin size and haven't had a clear response. So the answer is that it may or may not still fit in their bin and I may or may not be allowed to carry it on. Which is why I started with Mumsnet...

I imagine it depends where you're flying from and how busy they are - when we recently flew with them they checked every single piece and gave a label to indicate it was the right size.

I had this issue with my suitcase (small enough for Ryanair carry on but a few cms too small for flybe), managed to half get it in the measuring bin and the member of staff took that to be enough (no way would it have fit all the way) so on the return flight we left our approved size tags on the case and managed to avoid the member of staff who was checking as they were speaking to someone else.

I think you can add hand luggage up to 3hrs before flying which is what I'd do for piece of mind as it's cheaper than having to do it at the airport.
