We're going to a wedding in November and want to combine it with somewhere else in the states.
We need to get the flights booked and need inspiration please.

Depends what you like doing and how long you have. Road trip up the California coast or to Vegas and The Grand Canyon and Monument Valley. Or take an internal flight to another city: Chicago, New York, Austin, Savannah, New Orleans, Nashville, there are tons of possibilities!

November will be quite cold in Chicago! Ditto NY.

I would be inclined to stay in California and explore a bit further. You have Pasadena, Santa Barbara, Carmel and San Francisco. You could look at Arizona, eg Phoenix, and Utah but it’s getting cold at night in desert areas. Cities such as Savannah and Nashville would be great. Washington might be ok too. It’s often not really cold there until December.

Santa Fe. Really different to everywhere else.

New Orleans, an absolutely amazing city. Bourbon Street is such an experience

Lake Tahoe

Vegas and San Francisco.

I did a round trip LA to Vegas to San Francisco and back to Vegas. It was the best road trip ever and I can't wait to do it again.

What's your main object with your second city?

Is just somewhere else interesting to go? Or do you want to break your travel time? Are you travelling with children?

A key thing will be the weather. As others have said, NY and the north/north east will be very cold in November. Depends what you are up for?

BritWifeinUSA · 09/08/2019 03:04

I would keep going west and spend some time in Hawaii.

Thanks for all your replies.
There's just the two of us, we just fancy something interesting. We like natural landscapes and cities although LA doesn't appeal. The wedding is early November so to early for a snowy holiday which I'd have liked.
We've been to Chicago and new York. I like the idea of new orleans and savannah sorry of area. I'm going to look at that seriously.
I do like the idea of Yosemite and lake tahoe but I believe the tioga pass is closed and possibly other roads?
I also quite like the Las Vegas, grand canyon and monument Valley, logistically that looks the easiest.

I'd go for Las Vegas/Grand Canyon then. You can break up your return journey and have a mixture of hotel/city and scenery.

Miami would be another option. Weather should be nice in November and the architecture is amazing.

Sedona in Arizona.

Definitely Hawaii - it's so far away and you're nearly there from LA. The weather will be fantastic, and it's bloody Hawaii! I totally recommend the Jurassic Park helicopter ride. Epic.
