Please tell me about Turkey. Looking at possibly going September. Just me and DH, both late 40's. It's Dh idea but I've been left to find out about where is best to go. Rather go All inc. I'm hopeless at looking at holidays, so please wise mumsnetters where to go and where to avoid.
Thanks 😎

Kalkan is beautiful
Not sure re AI as we always have a villa

We went to Marmarid last year and it was def not my kind of place! All concrete blocks, big AI hotels and filled with fake designer shops. Old part was nicer but I didn't like it!! Was filled with drunken Brits and although I enjoyed the sun I won't go back.

Turkey is amazing! There are so many different areas to explore. The coastline around Bodrum is beautiful and probably my favourite area.

Lara Beach is just a strip of ultra 5* hotels but very close to the airport. Kusadasi and Side are also lovely.

We've actually booked to go to Oludeniz next summer which is an area I haven't been to before but is apparantly amazing - it's famous for its paragliding off the mountain and the blue lagoon!

Olu Deniz is lovely

Turkey is wonderful. To be honest I wouldn't go all inclusive though as the food is cheap and delicious there. We are going to Bodrum in Sept which I have heard is gorgeous. Places I have loved there have been Olu Deniz and Alanya though the transfer time to Alanya is loong.SmileSmile Kusadasi is nice but quite spread out. And I liked Marmaris but Icmelar round the bay is nicer. Wherever you end up though you are bound to have a lovely time.

I can second the Kalkan suggestion! Beautiful town. I would recommend going B&B there in a hotel, then eat lunch & dinner out. The town is known for having the best restaurants outside of Istanbul.

Personally I would do AI in Turkey as it is very reasonable to eat out and you can get such amazing local food.

Where is best to go depends on what you like.

We love the Bodrum Peninsula as there is something for everyone there, from lively to relaxing and authentic.

I love Turkey, the only place I wouldn't go is Marmaris, I've only been for a day but it was just too busy and commercialised for me.
