Texts from passport office

Evening all,
DD (17) has sent off for her passport..its a child to adult renewal.
Sent if off last Tues via check and send - had to do the paper form as she needed to update her photo and get it countersigned as she changed so much.
On Friday (26th) she got a text saying " Unless we need more info from you, your new passport should be with you by 16/08"
Then today she got 2 texts saying "You will receive your new passport in the next few days. Documents will be sent separately" then a couple of hours later another saying " When you receive your new passport please sign it with a black ball point pen". It also contained a link on guidance notes for signing it.
Has anyone else recently applied and received these texts? And if so how long after receiving the last text did your passport arrive?
Did it come via Royal Mail or courier?
Lastly has anyone else had to sign their passports?I assumed the signatures were digitally transferred onto them. The only thing I can really find online about this is people saying you've to be really careful when signing as you cannot mark below the line provided as it can cause issues at airports etc.
TIA x

My DDs child to adult came on Monday after doing online application previous Sunday. We had ‘It has been dispatched” text late on the Thursday and “sign it” on Saturday - no text from courier as we thought we should have got, but it was delivered by courier on Monday, needing signing for and needed her signature in it once arrived.

Well the normal postie has just been and no passport but could still come today if it needs to be signed for...postie told me they don't usually deliver them in the normal post around here but have occasionally. Hoping theres a second post today, if not it will be after the weekend. Also been told by my friend that depending on the area you live in and if theres a high risk of it going "missing", they will use a courier instead

Ours have always come via a man in a car. Hands over the envelope. No signature required. A bit odd really.

Our 3 renewals were posted through the door but by a courier, not royal mail

Yes new passports have to be signed when you receive them now. I have to take passports as ID for my job and it's astonishing how many people hand them over unsigned! The letter it comes with reminds you, the text reminds you, and there's a sticker ON the passport reminding you! Yet people still get arsey when I tell them it's invalid.

Just an update- passport arrived this morning, yayyy!
Delivered by courier, just a random bloke in a car. Also got old passport back today in the normal post.
13 days from posting to receiving.
Very impressed!
Thanks all for sharing your experiences.
Now we can get DDs name on those flight tickets!

Hi, I need to do my daughters passport cause we go on holiday in October but I have to put my passport information on her form but it’s still my old name and I got married last year and haven’t changed it to my new last name... can I still do her form and then just get my passport changed afterwards?
