Best travel agent for last minute deals

We've on a week away in August.

Which travel agent would be best at getting a good deal for a 5* hotel for a family of six?

No idea but I’m keeping a close eye on this as I’m also interested.

I've used Expedia & Lastminute & both were OK.

Or you could try a High St shop if there's an independent one near you. Wouldn't recommend Tui as they're very downmarket.

Where do you want to go. What sort of accommodation do you want. Dont know if the demise of late rooms will affect anything.

The demise of late rooms would make me reluctant to use a booking agent rather than a package operator. TUI are not "down market" they offer a range from budget to 5* hotels. Or Jet2 are good. You are protected if you use an abta tour operator.

Keep a daily eye on the tui website - they often have really good deals.

My experience is that Tui just represents the current UK - from rough as fuck to well heeled - i experienced both ends of the spectrum on a recent flight.

Overseas use a high street agent (we have had success with travel republic, hays and tui) you get a lot more protection with a package and remember to buy insurance. In the U.K. just use trivago to search for deals - ideally book directly with the hotel or pay on arrival

I've found that Trivago can be more expensive than others. I recently booked a holiday with Expedia that was £180 pp less than the identical thing with Trivago.

Are you sure they are not the same company if you dig deep enough?
I know if you book through hotels.com or bookings.com they are booked with th hotels under Expedia. Trick to get the cheapest prices is to search all of them but do it on different devices as they seem to share cookies so if you do the searches on the same computer the prices are normally very similar.
