JFK then...

ChoudeBruxelles did a similar thread last week but didn't want to piggy back onto that, although great suggestions there.

I have a return flight to JFK in September flying solo but no accommodation as yet. I was planning on JFK -flying to Niagara Falls - fly to Boston - then train to NYC (I think I posted prev about this). I'm on a very tight budget and that trip is now looking pricey.

I really can't decide what to do/where to go and it's hurting my brain.

I swing between getting the train to Washington via somewhere (Pittsburgh maybe?) and back up. Do I go to Boston (v. expensive so I have found) and explore around there? Is there another east coast train route I should do within the week?

Do I look for the cheapest JetBlue flight from JFK and go elsewhere?

Someone help me! Important info is I will be travelling alone, would prefer not to drive, I like trains, I'm happy travelling alone and don't mind moving about as being alone I get loads done in a shorter space of time. Ideally looking for cheap motel accommodation rather than hostel dorms (bit old for that now). I have been to NYC twice before so happy to explore other areas. Will prob do a night or two there on way back.

Has anyone travelled for a week solo on the East Coast or flown out of JFK for a cheap jaunt?!

You could get the train to Philadelphia from NYC and then onto DC. Lots to do in Philly and not as expensive as Boston.

Boston every time.

@RusholmeRuffian you read my mind. That's exactly what I've come up with. NYC to Washington via Philadelphia.

@Pipandmum Boston looks amazing, can't get over the accommodation prices though. Hoping for a windfall before I go to fit it in 😫

Having just been to Philadelphia - it’s expensive! Philadelphia is great though. So much intertwining of British and USA History. Great museums and art galleries too. I wouldn’t expect bargains in nice safe areas of Washington either and museum prices are not cheap.

Thanks for the heads up @BubblesBuddy. Looks like I'll be eating once a day then!
