Hi. Can anyone recommend any small towns or resorts on South coast? A bit more low key than the large ones there, that we would probably visit for facilities.
Going Feb half term.

From memory, from when I went there (admittedly a very long time ago!) the Northern part of the island is much quieter than the South, and a lot more attractive - it's more lush/green/tropical. The South was very touristy, even back then.

Thanks BIWI, exactly the same in Tenerife. I loved the north. Might have to research sandy beaches and sunshine quota in the north.

Amadores or Morgan. Not been yet, going Feb half term!

We have stayed in Meloneras a few times in June and July and it's not too busy even then. There's a lovely promenade with nice shops and restaurants and a lovely sandy beach plus the dunes are there (they go all the way along to Playa del Ingles). Some great hotels (Lopesan Baobab is our fave but the Costa Meloneras is v good too).

Mogan is a very pretty little town as well but I don't know much about beaches etc there as we just did a day trip there.

I found a lovely apartment in a very small complex with a beach and a couple of places to eat, plus a supermarket. Not much else and no drinking scene so should be quiet. It's near st augustin. Easy access to motorway for day trips and not far to resorts for a visit.
I was quite picky about a big bed, dishwasher and bath for kids. So narrowed down choices a fair bit..We always self cater as kids can't serve themselves at buffets yet.

I second the Lopesan Baobab its a beautiful hotel. The children loved the lazy river and dh and I loved the choice of bars for evening cocktails.

San Agustin is lovely OP, and not too far from Maspalomas if you do fancy a bit more life (more restaurants and shops etc)

I LOVE Gran Canaria, have a brilliant time Smile

We stayed in Bahia Feliz at the Tui Family life, had a lovely time and was a very nice hotel, 20 mins ish from the airport, quiet, easy drive along the coast to go and explore other areas.
No beach though
Had a lovely time

Am there at the moment...I love the touristy bits in the south...cheesy but lovely Grin

CottonSock · 06/08/2019 15:58

Lovely. The kids like a bit of cheesy so I think this will be a good compromise. Easy access to see the city , botanic gardens and Mogan aswell. Shame I have to wait until Feb!
