With family, 8 and 11 yo children. I am thinking about stopping for a city break as driving from Slovenia. Is there a museum to see with kids? Not sure if it is a good idea at all...

Not sure of your route but Salzburg is brilliant for a brief stop.

Munich's got a lot to offer. But there are loads of places which might work for you depending in route.

Where specifically are you driving from and to, and how long a break were you thinking of?

Perhaps 1 day break 2 nights...driving from Slovenia

From which town or village in Slovenia are You travelling, and what is the ultimate destination? (Assuming you mean, as I had assumed, your break is a stop-off in the middle of a longer trip.)

We’ve stopped at the Legoland resort on the way back from Austria once. It was a lot less manic than Windsor.

We did Munich, fussen and Aachen at roughly that age, the castles were a particular hit because there's a "summer Bob" there too
