Caribbean in September

My husband is being posted on a work trip in September to the Caribbean (st kitts). He will have to work the first week and then we would holiday the second and his work would be happy for me and our 20mo DC to accompany him. As his usual work trips involve taking the train to slough, we are quite keen to make the most of this as an opportunity!!

I know that it is obviously a bit up and down weather wise then, but we are keen to give it a go if we can.

Does anyone have any recommendations for hotels in st kitts?

For the second week, we may go to Antigua as there seem to be more options in terms of things to do / hotels etc. If anyone can tell me how those two islands compare and what they would recommend in terms of St Kitts vs Antigua and hotels, that would be great!

Ps no offence meant to the people of Slough, which I am sure is delightful. Just that I do love a sunny beach!!

Not been to St Kitts but Jumby Bay in Antigua would be hard to beat- it's amazing

Thank you! Looks lovely! In season prices look out of our league but out of season may be ok.

I'd hop over to Nevis.

We have stayed at Nisbet Plantation. Very good!

We stayed in St Kitts years ago , when we first went to The Caribbean, in hotel that is now The Marriott
The position of hotel was excellent as had 2 fab beaches nearby
We hired a mini jeep,to go exploring round island...it is very lush tropical island and easy to drive round ( they drive on left!) great views from the fort at Brimstone Hill
Went to a batik workshop where I bought a beautiful beach kaftan, from Caribelle Batik which I still wear over 25 yr later ( plantation house workshop is still there if you want to treat yourself)

I couldn't believe how warm the sea was either, even in October ....our trip to St Kitts started our love affair with travel, and I love the Caribbean

is it hurricane season then? just something to be aware of if it is.

MrsEricBana · 30/07/2019 20:16

That is true re hurricane. Our trip above was a November and there had just been a hurricane hit. Barbados on the other hand hasn't been hit for 50 or 60 years.

BelindasGleeTeam · 30/07/2019 20:19

That's bang in hurricane season. You may be lucky and see neither hide nor hair of one....you may not.

Be aware of this.
