Considering going to Lisbon I'm after some recommendations of things to do with DS12 and DS14.

There was a really cool art museum interactive type thing that my teens loved It was very near el Corte ingles and well worth a visit

We spent 4 days in Lisbon and loved it. Riding Tram 28 was a great introduction to the city and we could spot places we fancied exploring - following all the tips here especially getting in early , it was HEAVING by 11! lisbonlisboaportugal.com/lisbon-transport/lisbon-tram-28.html

The Time Out Food Market was fun and a good pitstop before heading to Tower of Belém on the tram - take a picnic with you if weather is fine (and you can maybe squeeze in a glass of wine from the tiny can there).

There were lots of families doing eg segway tours, boat trips etc. Very friendly, fun city. Take your most comfortable walking shoes!

Here are some suggestions for you, or any other family visiting Lisbon. www.lisbontravelideas.com/2021/06/how-to-ensure-that-your-kids-have-fun-in-lisbon-portugal

You can go to the top of the Monument to the Discoveries.
It looks out over the beautiful Jeronimos monastery, but your two may not be interested in that.

The Santa Justa Lift is fun!

MissAmbrosia · 28/02/2022 19:19

tuk tuk tour is quite fun. Worth noting that for the Santa Justa lift - you can use a standard transport pass - we bought 24 hours ones - otherwise it costs about 5 euros each.

Comfortable shoes 💯 you will walk miles up and down hills.

Time out was great, as is tram. Other than that just walk, eat and soak it all up: we used the electric scooters a lot, great fun and not as scary as you first think: really cheap and easy too

Is a week too long in Lisbon for a visit?

Chocbuttonsandredwine · 01/03/2022 09:53

Possibly but you could go to Cascais? Either for a day or a night or 2?

We did 3 nights in Lisbon then 6 on Algarve.

If you are going in the summer get a hotel with a pool, you’ll appreciate somewhere to chill in the afternoon

Also, Sintra is an awesome town with several castles and gardens nearby. Would be worth spending at least one day exploring Sintra’s castles.

If you and they are into seafood you must go to Cervejaria Ramiro - I would recommend booking, but you can queue (looks much worse than it is). Some of the best seafood I have ever had.

This is the best chocolate cake I have ever eaten in my life (I would go back to Lisbon tomorrow for another slice): www.landeau.pt/

Agree with Sintra, Time Out market and just walking / exploring. It’s a lovely city.

JakBlak · 01/03/2022 13:39

Agree.
