Hi - we are trying to choose between Sani Beach and Domes of Elounda for a week's getaway next summer with our 3 year old. They both look quite similar and price is about the same too. Anyone been to either or both?!

Went to Domes of Elounda this May half term. Beautiful place! Crete is lovely, as are the people. It has a fantastic children’s pool and a fabulous beach which is perfect for children too. I haven’t been to Sani but I have been to Ikos Olivia, owned by the same company. Ikos was fantastic and ultra all inclusive

Thanks, I will definitely check out Ikos. I like the sound of ultra all inclusive! The deal we found to Domes was only B&B so imagine we'd be paying a fair amount on top for food.

Did you get one of the rooms a with private pool? We would be going in June and wondering if pool would be warm enough. I am a bit of a wuss when it comes to swimming and didn't use the pool at all when we were on holiday in Majorca last June as I found pool too cold.

Our room at Domes had a hot tub. I decided against a private pool, as I worry that one of the children might fall in when I wasn’t looking! I’ve heard that some of the private pools at Domes aren’t heated well. Personally I think the large shared pools were fantastic and the private pools not needed. The restaurants and drinks are on the pricey side at Domes. In the evenings We ate in the lovely local village which has lots of pretty restaurants which are far more reasonably priced. You don’t have to worry at all about that at Ikos!

That's useful to know. I don't like to be stuck in a resort so being able to get to the village for dinner would be a bonus. Is it walkable?
