Montenegro anyone?

We're looking to book our July 2020 holiday. With two kids we have stuck to Holiday Villages for years which we love. They've this year opened one in Montenegro which looks lovely on paper but what's it like as an actual country? Seems quite a short flight which is good.

Alternatively is Holiday Village Kos which has been established a good while but longer flight.

Its scenery is like Norwegian fjords but with warm weather. Kotor is a historical town which cruise ships and luxury yachts visit. Nice to be there in the evening.

Love Montenegro, we visit family there every year, it beautiful if a little rough around the edges

@Spiderpants a little rough around the edges? Hmm

It is very, very beautiful but less developed than other tourist destinations. I found the food wasn't quite up to my standards - the supermarkets didn't have a great range. Restaurants were better so if you're not self catering it would be less of an issue.

Yes, it an up and coming area, they havent quite cottoned on to the potential for the areas outside of Budva, Tivat and Kotor etc, it's beautiful but its not like going to Spain which have been dealing with tourists forever

We went to Kotor several times and absolutely loved it. Stunning scenery, we found the roads good, and the restaurants and supermarkets excellent. It was just "foreign" enough to remind us of going abroad for the first time - unfamiliar brands, language etc.
We visited Budva but it felt much more touristy and a bit tacky.

Thanks we've decided to discount it but appreciate replies

With your mention of Holiday Villages, just got back from the one in Rhodes and it was very good - would recommend.

birthdayblues31 · 26/07/2019 08:36

@theGirlWithManyFaces HV Rhodes have quoted more than £2k more than HV Kos and Majorca!

Well the driving we experienced was positively suicidal, made Italy look relaxed.Grin
We had driven from Zagreb down to Cavtat without a thought but as soon as we got over the border I thought we might not make it back to Cavtat in one piece.
