Lefkada/Lefkas (Nidri)

DP and I are going to Nidri for a week early August - last-minute booking. I know it'll be hot! But just wondered if anyone has any tips about particular things to do or see there (apart from jumping in the pool, and/or sitting in the shade, panting)?

Also, it's been a while since we've been to a Greek island, and I kind of suspect it might not be the cheap area it was 10 years ago. Does anyone know roughly how much we might expect to pay for a glass of wine or pint of beer at a bar in Nidri? Or for a bottle of wine in a shop there?

Thanks!

I’ve been to Nidri twice, but quite a few years ago! I remember enjoying the island hopping boat trip which is definitely worth doing. Also did a snorkelling trip. There are lots of lovely tavernas to eat at by the harbour side. The island is generally quite quiet. Hope you have a lovely time.

There are loads of watersports options and boat trips. We took a ferry to Ithaca for the day which was beautiful and quiet. And we did a boat trip for a day.
Nidri is a bit of a party town so very lively at night and good for people watching.

If you have a car head down south to vasiliki and sivota which are beautiful.

Thanks, Canoo.

We won't have a car, but we'll definitely be doing some boat trips.

We went many years ago and I am sure it has changed a lot by now. We loved it. However we have visited Sivota and Corfu more recently. Prices are much higher now. It used to be crazy cheap to eat out. Stick to local half litres/litres (!) of wine and beer and the cost isn't too bad. Soft drinks and food are pretty much on a par with the UK I'm afraid. It is a stunning part of the world - I'm sure you will love it. Have a great holiday.

I holidayed in Nidri years ago. I'm sure it will have changed since then but it was lovely.

Nidri is my happy place Smile
Haven't managed to get back since 2012 but went several times before then.
There isn't really anything to do in nidri apart from sit and enjoy the beautiful view.
Don't bother walking to the waterfall as it doesn't run in the summer months.
But lots of boat trips and loads of restaurants along the harbour front.

Greek islands generally now cost pretty much the same as uk for eating out.
Have a wonderful time.

I'm jealous! Have a lovely time.
(Make sure you catch the sunset from the beach - the mountains across the bay turn red).
