Lake Garda - where to stay

I am driving myself batty reading reviews of campsites for our 2020 summer holiday. I think I have narrowed it down to either Peschiera, Bardolino or Garda town. Does anyone have any recommendations please? Or even private villas or hotels? We are a family of 6 and don't want to spend more than around £2k for a weeks accommodation. Everywhere has mixed reviews which makes it so hard to choose! I particularly like the look of La Rocca. However we have to fly in to Milan Bergamo if that makes any difference, we are aware Verona would be much handier but no airports near us fly to there. Thanks!.

It depends what you want to do while you are there. Lakeside traffic can be dreadful so if you want to use the train stations to go to Venice or Verona, Peschiera. Gardaland is also closest to Peschiera.

Bardolino is very chic and attracts a younger crowd. The Milanese often go for the weekend.

Garda is my favourite from the three. Very family orientated and lovely atmosphere.

HTH 😊

Have a look at Desenzano on Lake Garda. It has great rail and boat links and is attractive but not overly expensive. Very Italian!

We stayed here last year. www.camping-serenella.it/en/
Very nice and about a 15 minute walk to Garda town or Bardolino.

This year we are staying here www.campingspiaggiadoro.com/en/ in a garden villa - 500m to Lazise.

Out of interest how are you getting from Bergamo to Lake Garda? We go the train last year (and will be again this year) but it was quite a faff. We are staying overnight in Bergamo each way this time.

We went a few years ago. It was about a 3hr drive from Milan but nice easy roads. Motorway for most of it. Then lovely pretty road in to Arco, which is where we stayed.

This is where we stayed. Was lovely! So were owners
