Bloody hell.
Don't know what was weirdest. The Crooked House or the Chimney Pots Walk or all those weird animatronics.... Anyone else been?

Went there last year and it hasn't changed much since I was a child -- the crooked house and the dummy by the entrance where your pay your 20p to park.

A bit of a time warp. The crooked house is downright freaky.

We went last year and my then 3 and 5 year olds loved it.

I used to go there every year as a child (grandparents live on IOW) and absolutely loved it (Robin Hill was fab too - think they've now got rid of most of the animals though - shame)

When I was a nanny I took the kids I looked after there too, they also thought it was great and I can;t wait to take my children there (hopefully next month).

It is a time warp and I love the fact that it hasn;t changed. Luckily as I know it so well, I know the bits to avoid so as not to scare DD1.

that looks fun actually. in a freaky kind of way. never been to IoW, its on one of my places to go after dh is transplanted.

Just back from the IOW and visited both Blackgang and the Brading 'Experience'.
Hard to say which is stranger, although I think Brading just has the edge.
Ds3 is still talking about the "Lady in the fireplace hole"
I loved Professor Copperthwaites collection...a stuffed yeti,a 4 eared,3 eyed,2 mouthed 8 legged lamb,a winged monkey,I could go on.....
Both places seemed to be built around a random collection of thoughts and objects just thrown together with a totally surreal outcome.
We will be talking about it for years in this family and being a bit strange has already become "Really Brading"!!

ha the brading experience! used to be a bog standard wax museum.

i'm glad the professor copperwaites collection is still there, it's freaky isn't it?!

did you see the organ playing skeleton, monk thing? is he still there sugarfree?

i really love the iow

I'm an expat IOWer and love Blackgang. I took my husband there for his birthday four years ago - he hadn't been since his childhood. I hope they've fixed the dinosaur in the dinorestaurant - the last time we went he was slurring his speech! can't wait to go back there with the boys, they'll love it. The maritime museum in Bembridge is good for wet weather but I would avoid Alum Bay; very costly and 'touristy'.

Went to the IOW at Easter and did all the truly mad things, Blackgang Chine and Waltzing Waters stay in my mind! My 2 (4 rs & 2.5yrs) loved every minute!!!

Robin Hill is cool but quite normal by IOW standards

Boogalooblue · 10/09/2007 21:13

I went as a child and loved it.

Last year we went as a family and it was still great - it's make believe

My Dad's family are born and breed IOWers

So went there loads as a child, I didn't like the MAZE though but I don't like MAZE of any sort. SO I stand on the bridge thingy and watch DS going round.

Taken DS there loads of times he loves it

He played in the Pirate ship for a whole afternoon with his cap gun

When I went on the waterslide boat thingy with DS I am soooooooooo fat and heavy I went so far up the other side it was soooooooo em=barressing. I had come down sooooooo fast and got up such a momentum I kept going!!!!!!!!
