Skala - Kefalonia

I’ve just booked to go to Skala for a week at the very end of September just me and DP we are in our 30’s. We like cute village type places and good food, ideally a harbour (but I know Skala doesn’t have that).
Has anyone been and any tips?
Starting to think I should have booked to stay in Lassi because of its proximity to Argostili and ease of visiting other parts of the island.
Should I stick with Skala and just do a day trip to Argostili? Fiskardo looks lovely too but too far from Skala (we won’t be driving)

DH and I love Skala. Everything you want or need is walking distance, and there are very good tavernas and bars. There is an assortment of boat trips you can go on, Captain Vangelis cruises are our favourite which depart from the beach, you could go to Fiskardo on one of those, or a day trip to the island of Ithaca. There are a few watersports from the beach too.

You could risk the public bus service to go to Argostoli.
