Does anyone have any failsafe mosquito repellent tips? Gadgets, creams, sprays etc

I am a mosquito magnet and need any advice for my European holiday this summer. Thanks!

Deet is the most effective. I found Deet impregnated bands on Amazon, think they were called Mosi-off,, & they worked very well on a recent trip to Africa. Don't bother with the citronella ones.

As above, don't bother with anything but Deet. The greater the % the better. The DH & I use Boots Repel. Don't use anything more than 30% deet on kids though - there's a Bens Family brand you can get off Amazon that we use on the DD. Apply the product after sun lotion, not before.

Avon Skin so Soft

Another vote for the Avon product. Transformed our holidays in the tropics! Was recommended by a GP friend and it's so much better than anything else we've tried...and nicer on the skin too with no nasty chemicals

Don't know whether it's true, but I read somewhere that the armed forces use it when in tropical climates.

Tried Avon Skin So Soft in Costa Rica for a day, deet is an unpleasant chemical and I wanted it to work. Unfortunately for both me and my DH it didnt.

I did read a while ago that Avon changed the Skin So Soft formulation, so may not work (think it was only the dry oil spray that worked?).

I am always the family mozzie bait, and the best stuff I have found is called Goibi - I don't get bitten if I use it:

www.amazon.co.uk/XTREME-ANTIMOSQUITOS-TROPICAL-REPELLENT-LOTION/dp/B00GY2477K?tag=mumsnetforu03-21

I've only used it in non-malarial areas though.

Only products containing deet work for my mosquito magnet husband. Don't bother with Avon, citronella, bracelets, marmite, garlic or any other woo stuff. They simply don't work on true mosquito magnets.

Currently trialling hedgewitch after a recommendation. WHO recommends it along side Deet
