Heard lots about Whitstable being lovely. Thinking of going there on Saturday, what do you think?

Was thinking of doing exactly the same thing and was just checking out train times! Will be there on Saturday with ds1 (3) and ds2 (1)! Been once before and it is lovely.

Whitstable's lovely - but not a hue amount for children - particularly if the weather's a bit iffy. The beach is great, but pebbley. There are some good places to eat. We go to the East Quay - wonderful fish and chips, fish soup, mussels. There's a fish tank to look in and the beach outside. The Oyster Bay place is nice too, but pricy and getting a bit pretentious. Pizza Espress at the Horsebridge is good. Tea and Times for a drink and a cake. And try to bring two adults so that you can do tag childcare and take turns to have a look round the shops. And don't forget the harbour and the fish market, particularly if you have boys. The combination of machinery and hideous smells is irrisitible!

Oh and it's a bit of a walk from the station to the town. And when the tide's out, it's REALLY out!!!!!

whitstable is not that nice. Just a few shops and actually quite hard to get a decent meal.

Best time to go to that part of Kent is on a HOT day to the beach at Broadstairs.
