last minute sunny holiday alone for me - ideas

I've got leave to take and fancy a lazy week somewhere in the sun.
I usually go for more active walking, swimming and a bit more out of the way places but I just fancy somewhere where I can go slow for a few days, read books and do a bit of exploring and not be noticed for being a single 50+ white female.

Any ideas?

I am the same! I have been looking at Mijas Costa. I guess it depends on your budget though.

By that I meant that you might have a higher budget than me!

Try Boa Vista in Cape Verde. 5* all inclusive on the beach going for not that much. You’ll get a breeze (not as hot as Europe at the moment) and it’s supposed to be really safe.

We’re off to Valencia this week. Short flight, stuff to see or just laze by the pool. It’s meant to be lovely. Fingers crossed!

How about Crete? Very friendly & laid back. Good buses and plenty to explore. Chania area is lovely

Madeira.

I wouldn't advise Cape Verde as a single female. I got hassled from the locals loads when DH wasn't with me, even when the DCs were there. Nothing to explore there either, it's barren, Santa Maria isn't much better. There was a brothel near our hotel with extremely young looking girls working there. Reported it to TUI etc but I doubt they can do anything for those poor girls.

I've just returned from Elounda in Crete.. stunning place.

On an excursion we met a lady in her 50's who was there on her own. She said she found it an easy place to be alone without feeling awkward.

The people are so friendly and the views are beautiful. So many tavernas to choose, some right on the seafront.

El Campello near alicante, lovely town fabulous tram line that goes from Alicante to past Benidorm, and plenty of choice of flights.

Watching - me too!

Thank you for all the suggestions, I’m going to have a look at Crete, Valencia and I think I have been to Mijas before though and fancy something new

Another vote for Crete here. It felt very safe and welcoming, friendly but respectful. I saw a few solo women on holiday there recently who all seemed to be relaxed and treated with respect. I fancy travelling there alone myself one of these days.

Valencia is lovely - we went there in Feb last year and there is plenty to do, short flight, nice weather, good food. I would think you'd feel quite safe there as a single female. The Chania end of Crete is nice (I don't like the area east of Iraklion personally - it's safe - but tacky). Malaga also has plenty to do and would be warm and nice. My friend lives in Estepona and loves it.
