Recommendations for algarve for 4 adults and baby?

Hi all

Planning a trip in October to algarve - mainly pocked here as the flight is short but also open to other suggestions.
We're chipping in for a birthday present for one of the guests so would like to try and keep costs down overall but it will be 4 adults and a 1 year old.

What would be best value for money? Which locations would be good? Should we go for apartment or villa? Would definitely want a pool and not too far from beach. Anyone have any good kid friendly places they stayed here? Thank you so much!

Did you want a "summer " holiday? It is unlikely to be warm enough for pool or sea in October. There are very few heated pools in the Algarve, the sea is the Atlantic so quite bracing even in July.
You might be lucky and get some warm sunshine but October is not the summer season in the Algarve.
As to resorts, Alvor is lovely.

Oh I never really thought it could be colder in October. I've been to Spain before in October and it was really lovely and warm so maybe

Maybe Malaga location would be better?

Someone will come along and tell you they've had scorching weather in October. It's possible but not reliable if you want a pool / beach type holiday.
I've had a cold wet week in Majorca in October, Malaga is similar. Honestly if you want warm weather you need to go further south. If I was going at that time of year I'd consider Cyprus or the Canaries.
It depends what you want from a holiday.

The beginning of October should be ok but if you’re looking at half term it’s often wet and windy (I’ve lived here for 16 years)

There are villas with heated pools but if the air temp isn’t high enough then there’s no point heating a pool
