I'm not sure walking around a city in baking heat is going to be much fun, forecast is 30 degrees. Any top tips? Is there somewhere cool ?

Visit attractions early in the day, later in the afternoon and in the evening. The Glyptotek is open until 9pm on Thursdays. Tivoli is open until very late every day and Nyhaven is a great place to stroll as it gets dark. The Little Mermaid is best viewed early before the crowds arrive. Hey Captain is a canal tour company which does tours well into the evening, sometimes as late as 8pm.
Spend the hottest part of the day lingering over a long lunch, so have this as your main meal and just grab some street food in the evening

Østerbro Beach has a shallow gradient out into the bay which is perfect for the younger crew, and a 130-metre pier out into the water for jumping into the deeper parts. Amager Beach Park is connected to the Metro at the Øresund stop. There are alsoa number of purpose built harbour swimming pools at Islands Brygge, Sluseholmen and Fisketorvet. There are pools for both adults and children and they are very popular.

The Aquarium is excellent and will be cool inside.
