Recommendations for a day in Paris?

My DH has a big birthday whilst we are in France this summer. We ( me and 2 teens) want to surprise him with a day trip to Paris. Any wonderful family friendly recommendations? Teens have no interest in anything cultural (philistines)! It's 20 years since I was last there! Is the Eiffel Tower a mad tourist trap? Boat trip? Please give me your ideas! Smile

The catacombs might interest the teens? And you can get round in a couple of hours so plenty of time to do something else. Would they like a show eg moulin rouge?

There’s the package ticket option, Seine cruise / effeil tower / moulin rouge - very good fun! Or I highly recommend Versailles if you’re happy slightly outside of Paris - my DH is also a philistine but enjoyed it especially during the fountain shows.

We enjoyed our river trip and you go past the main sights and you can stop right at the Eiffel Tower which if you’re there for a day would also be good with minimal time spent travelling between places. You can get good meal deals from a boulangerie - baguette, pastry and drink which you could eat in a park or on the banks of the Seine.

Lovely ideas! Thank you! Keep them coming!

Oooo there’s also some vault wine tasting which looked good.

And the crazy horse was great but moulin rouge is probably more teen friendly

Oh I went to Paris last year with my DH as a surprise and absolutely LOVED it! We did a wine tasting there which was really fun and you got a personalised bottle of wine at the end!
Walking around the le marais is lovely!!

Take the tour bus around the city. You can get off at any stop and catch the next one after looking round.

Montparnasse tower Smile

Montmartre, the artists square - budget to have a caricature done if you all (about €40). Good fun to wander round and lovely to keep.

Don't do crazy horse with teens. Great for adults, would be squirmy awkward for teens!

I second a boat trip. When we went up the Montparnasse tower there was ice skating at the top. Not sure they’ll have it in the summer, but there was a bar at the top.

We did a guided bike tour which was great.

A wander round Saint-Germain-des-Prés is always good, and great in the evenings as it's the liveliest area, with some great restaurants (obviously depending on the age of the teenagers) .

Montmartre is always interesting (a visit to the Sacré-Cœur), maybe take one of the "petit train" rides up there from outside the Moulin Rouge.

A Bateau Mouche trip when you want to rest your legs.

I always find Paris a great walking city.
