I'm planning a trip to Japan and was thinking of stopping off via Seoul, has anyone been?

Not personally but one of our boys has been and absolutely loved it.

Yes, and we really enjoyed it. We stayed at the Shilla.

Yes we flew South Korean to Oz and had a couple of nights in Seoul. Really enjoyed it!

Thank you everyone, looking at a couple of nights maybe.

I lived in Busan for two years and visit Seoul regularly these days (asia based). I really love visiting.

Although, I will say I think Japan is better for a tourist, and if time is limited and/or it's your first time in Asia, I'd perhaps prioritise Japan.

Have been several time and it's a great place to visit. It's easy to get around on the metro and there are some fabulous palaces and museums to visit. It's much cheaper than Japan.
the ibis in Myeongdong is a good place to stay - not too expensive and location is excellent - close to metro, airport bus stops outside, walking distance to insadong and loads of shops and restaurants next to the hotel.
