Half board, small town, water park, short flight ideas

Struggling to find a holiday that suits the following requirements so turning to the Mumsnet massive for advice! DH wants AI, I want Air BNB so trying to compromise...

  1. Short flight (2-3 hrs) from UK
  2. Warm weather in June (above 25 degrees)
  3. Half board resort, ideally with kids club (TUI-style but not AI)
  4. Nice town within a 20 minute walk with child-friendly restaurants, ice cream shops, things to see
  5. Waterpark within an hour or so of the accommodation

Thanks!

Hungary has guaranteed nice weather, Balatonfured is a lovely town and apart from the waterpark there is lake Balaton with lots of attractions for children.

That looks brilliant - thank you! Will investigate...

We did Salou last year in June & it was perfect. Short flight, water park & theme park. I was dubious but it was DD's first time on a plane & I didn't want to risk a longer flight but I really rated it, would happily go back.

Poznan in Poland is a really child friendly city with an amazing water park and a lovely zoo. Obviously not a small town but a pretty small and relaxed city. Has a beautiful central square where you can sit and eat in the evenings while street performers entertain the kids.

Flight time is around 2 hours - not sure about accommodation as we stayed in a Central hotel.

Salou.
Avenida suites (tui family life)
Theme park and 2 water parks in the town.
Hotel can be AI or half board (you choose)
Pool, entertainment, kids club, town and beach.

Vale d’Oliveiras Quinta Resort & Spa, Carvoeiro in the Algarve is really close to Slide and Splash. You’ve got a choice of seaside town Carvoeiro, or visiting Lagoa which is about 10 minutes in land.

I saw a programme about package holidays and weirdly some holidays charged more for HB than AI in the same hotel, so watch out for that.

HB might end up as a false economy as you'll be paying hotel prices for drinks with your evening meal plus you'll need lunch, drinks and snacks in the daytime. HB might seem like the compromise between what you want, but in a sense, it's the worst of both worlds, unless you actually go to a hotel that doesn't do AI, only HB.

If you don't want to do AI, I'd probably choose B&B in a hotel and try to get one with a kitchenette or at least a fridge, so you can keep drinks cold and make snacks and sandwiches. You can then eat out once a day and have sandwiches or snacks the rest of the time. Unless you are very lucky with your hotel, it is likely that eating in a local restaurant is nicer and cheaper overall.

Fuengirola in Spain has a great waterpark. Lots of other stuff to do round there too.

Durinell in Holland is always rated on here, we are keen to try it

We stayed in mumsnet favourite Puerto Pollensa in Majorca at the something Azul hotel. It was a decent 3 star half board hotel in a fab location. We took the bus to Alcudia to the water park there. Was a good holiday. About 10 years ago now though
