Do last minute deals still exist?

I'm hoping to go away in school holidays (early-mid August) as family of 4. Have seen the odd deal for a week AI for 4 of us for £500pp.
I'm not an AI fan normally but with the £ being so weak I've found prices in Europe horrifyingly high for food & drink. Hence my thinking.
Does anyone have any idea whether I should just book for August now, or book my leave from work & book a week before?

Honestly for 2k for a week for 4 people, I'd get a gorgeous SC apartment with a pool, buy lots of easy to prep foods and eat out a couple of times. It'll be far nicer than cheap AI.

Last minute deals in the summer holidays are few and far between so I’d book now if you’ve found somewhere you Fancy going

I found the reduced last minute deals mid August were flying from Scotland ( school holidays earlier) or for the low end budget hotels ( great for young party groups rather than families). Tons in Spain and Turkey but not much elsewhere.

The best route is to research flights and hotel somewhere you like. You can get an AI hotel on your own, you don’t need a package.

In my experience it's almost always more expensive to book separately rather than a package unless you are willing to fly from an inconvenient airport at an unsociable hour.
I've actually just booked a holiday and paid ££££ more because I wanted to fly from my local airport and there wasn't a tour operator package from there.

I've found really cheap deals for 2 weeks time and they have fallen this week. If you are flexible and willing to go without if a deal doesn't come up then hang on!

Yup I’ve just got a last minute for £1000 for family of 3 to Rhodes. Leave on sat but I’m in Scotland to school holidays for us.
