Has anyone else had to pay half the cost of a holiday almost a year before they go?

I have booked a week in Gran Canaria for Dh's 40th birthday next May and paid £120 deposit at the time, a few weeks ago.

Today I received an e-mail asking for £400 within 14 days. They imply that I took advantage of a low deposit at the time, knowing I would then have to pay this £400 shortly after, yet I don't remember that at all.

I don't have a spare £400 floating around at the moment, I was planning on saving £100 a month between now and March, when the balance was due . Looks like I'm going to lose the £120 deposit then.

I booked next years holiday in May and paid £100 low deposit, I then had to pay the balance of £340 for the rest of the deposit at the end of June(the day before we went this years holiday- gulp) Sounds as if that's what you've done too- but they should have explained it to them. Can you go in and talk to them and explain- surely they can get it sorted out as they don't want to lose your business.

I have just booked next year's holiday. Paid a £50 deposit & the balance is due in May.
