Looking for suggestions. I am not a seasoned traveller. I'm looking to go away for a short break in February, for a special occasion, with friends. Open to suggestions, the only thing that I really don't want is just a beach holiday.

Probably looking at villa/house accommodation but again, flexible. Just want to spend time with friends somewhere warmish.

And, crucially, cheapish!

I think it depends on your definition of “warmish”. Most of Europe will be still cold, Spain has around 17 degrees in the Balearic Islands. A colleague has a flat on Majorca and often goes there for a long weekend in February using leftover holidays and he can have every kind of weather possible.

I think friends went to Fuerteventura on February half term and while you could wear t-Shirts during the day a jumper was always at hand and you needed it plus a coat in the evening.

T shirt weather would be nice, just not freezing winter conditions, preferably. Or, if freezing then maybe properly snowy!

How do you want to spend your time?

The weather in Southern Spain can be lovely in February but it's an unpredictable month. If you did a city break somewhere like Seville you'd have all the cultural stuff and maybe good weather as a bonus.

How about Morocco or Sicily? Fairly south and lots of things to do and see.
