Rome/Pompeii with kids - tips needed

Hi - we're planning to go to Rome and Pompeii (or surrounding area) with kids in April next year. Please can you give me any tips on accommodation for either? Happy to do either hotel or apartment, but I'm not happy to share a room with kids so if a hotel, it would need to be suite with two rooms/inter-connecting rooms.

We stayed at Vatican Relais Rome hotel this April. We had a 2 bedroom suite. It was really nice and a good location close to the vatican.

We had a 2 bed apartment booked through booking.com called Easyinrome Navrona. Great location just off piazza navrona.

We stayed in Sorrento at the Rota Suites - good location for visiting Pompei amongst other places although Sorrento itself was a bit busy for us.

They have connecting rooms. It's lovely, family owned and a central location, literally only 10 minutes walk to the Colosseum. We walked everywhere, the only bus we took was to the Vatican.
