Salzburg - hotel or area recommendation please

Looking to book a flight to Salzburg in October for my 50th. Can anyone recommend a hotel or a good area to stay. Thank you

I’d recommend you stay as centrally as possible so that you can walk everywhere! I don’t think the outskirts of the city are particularly exciting. It’s expensive but if you’re budget’s not massive there’s a Star hotel which is s short walk through a tunnel in a rock to the centre. Good basic hotel, bit like a travel inn very ibis. I really loved the city and would like to go again one day.

There's two hotels called star.
We stayed in one that seemed pretty central,on lovely little square and short walk to the other larger older part with squares under the castle.
