Chessington summer holidays

Hi we are thinking of taking our Julia Donaldson obsessed 2 1/2-year-old to Chessington but the only time we can do it as they're having a Gruffalo summer festival is the first weekend of the summer holiday 19th/20th July.

I'm thinking it could be complete carnage I'm also thinking the M25 that weekend is probably somewhere we don't want to be anywhere near (from Bristol).

We would be travelling on the Friday staying in the hotel that night and so having two days in the park I've stayed in the hotel with work so quite happy with that just worrying will spend all that money to either be stuck on the motorway or stuck in long queues. Reviews for the park itself seem to be pretty shitty on TripAdvisor or at least very inconsistent we also have a seven-year-old he doesn't actually like rides so we wouldn't be waiting in queues for any of the big scary rides because none of us are that interested in them it's more for the zoo the sea life centre and the Julia Donaldson stuff we would be going for

Does anyone have any thoughts as to how busy it would be how bad the traffic would be etc?

I can't help with telling you about the traffic as I am not familiar with the area. I did go last year at the end of the summer holidays and was surprised that I didn't spend any time in jams on the M25.

Regarding the park, have a look at fast track passes on the website. If you only want to do a couple of rides it might be worth it and under 3s get fast track free with the adults.

I liked the park. It isn't massive but is well themed. There are quieter places to wander round. Tiger Rock is very good as is Zufari and the Gruffalo ride is excellent!

If you are staying in the hotel check if you get early ride time.
