Stopover recommendations a couple of hours from Zeebrugge

Does anyone have any good recommendations for a one night stopover near to Zeebrugge please?
We have done Bruges before but this time we are starting off from Northern Provence so will have a bit of a longer drive. Driving up on a Saturday morning & then catching the ferry overnight on Sunday into Monday.

Towns/cities or specific hotels all welcomed. We are a family of 4 with 2 x boys aged 9 & 7. Usually prefer a family room if possible.

Depending on your route north, Ghent and Kortrijk (Courtrai) are both lovely cities with plenty of sightseeing/restaurants etc.

I second Ghent - I prefer it to Bruges. It's just as pretty but much more lively due to the university
