Another thread about French campsites with teens!

Appreciate this has been done to death but looking for some advice on best campsites in France for families with teens and tweens.

Requirements:
attractive site
mobile home
in Southern region to pretty much guarantee decent weather (going late August)
bar/restaurant/on-site shop
plenty of activities for grumpy DC! Evening entertainment for them
lots of pools
Not too huge or noisy.
Near pretty places to visit and availability of supermarkets.

Too much to ask?

Have done Languedoc some years ago which was fab but too far to drive this time. Also, Dordogne but weather was decidedly iffy.
Maybe Provence region?

Not Provence but La Garangeoire in the vendee ticks a lot of your boxes. There is tons of on site stuff to do and a Go Ape type place next door (le grand defi).

Wish we were going back tbh.

Thanks Broom...what was the weather like?

I know you’re hesitant about going back to the Dordogne but we’ve been to a stunning site called St Avit Loisirs and didn’t have a problem. It’s a very green and leafy site and the restaurant is in a rustic, stone-built Périgordin building with a terrace which overlooks an outdoor pool complex. In total it has four pool complexes, including an indoor tropical-style swimming pool, a kids’ play pool and a lazy river and other outdoor activities such as tennis, crazy golf, trampolining and quad biking. It’s in a picture-postcard area and there are some lovely medieval towns to explore nearby.

la garangeoire was really great site when we went quite a few years ago. had lots of sporting things and a really brilliant band played in the bar area. one of the best we stayed at in france. wasnt so keen on the wider area....not as cute as brittany as seemed to be mainly bungalows and the beaches were long ones rather than the cornwall type bays. weather was good

dreamingofsun · 09/06/2019 09:40

my kids were teens at that stage. we hired bikes one day and cycled round a lake area

Les Charmettes in Le Mathes near Royan.
It used to be Haven but is now Siblu.
I spent the happiest summer of my life working there Grin
Loads to do close by, south enough for good weather but actually a really easy drive from Calais.

froomeonthebroom · 09/06/2019 13:17

blackcat the weather was very good, hot in the days but cooler at night. We went last 2 weeks in August and the 6 weeks prior to that were boiling apparently.

blackcat2345 · 09/06/2019 18:18

Lots to consider. Last time we went to the Dordogne it was beautiful but it was either cloudy or rainy for the whole 2nd week Sad

Siblu La Carabasse! Teen club. Everything in walking distance - beach, Luna Park, minigolf, bars and restaurants etc. Lots going on onsite. You say not Languedoc as too far but Provence is actually further on the motorway.

Was going to recommend La Brasilia but noticed you said too far a drive to that area. What about South West area, ive heard Le Vieux Port is a lively site with lots to do on it

Garangeoire is fab, we've been 3 times, but weather could do with being slightly warmer some days.

I've also been to les charmettes. many many years ago my friend's parents owned a van there. It's a lovely part of the world and the weather those few degrees hotter. As a 15 and 17 year old I had a great time. Longer drive though.

I've also heard good things about me port vieux. Considering it for next year.
