Please could someone tell me something about flying with IBERIA AIRLINES to Barcelona?

I know I got the tickets for FREE {well with AIRMILES - and that we got DH ticket as a BOGOF} but I am really annoyed that the flight is with IBERIA rather than BA

I thought it was with BA - who I know aren't the WORLD'S BEST AIRLINE

Please tell me something good hopefully there must be something good about them although I can't find anything atm.

Even if you have horror stories I would prefer to be warned

Thanks

.

I think we had this - one out and the other back - when we went. Went ok, no disasters, but this was before the world went mad and you couldn't take mascara onto planes, so couldn't vouch for how it would be now. Nothing major to report though, just your usual flight really.

iberia are fine

it's only a short flight really I wouldn't worry, even if they are crap you are in and out so fast that it doesn't really matter surely

RTKangaMummy · 23/07/2007 15:55

It is if we are delayed or diverted coming home that there will be a problem.

We all love flying and have been all around the world so the actual flying isn't a problem it is just the delays.

I know any airline can and does have delays but I don't know anything about them or their reputation.

I went from Heathrow to Barcelona the week before last on business. It appears that BA 'code share' with Iberia so it's an Iberia flight out and a BA flight back. The Iberia flight was inexplicably delayed (on the tarmac) for about an hour but the flight was otherwise unexceptionable. Some off-hand comments from my Spanish colleagues made me think that delays on Iberia are not unusual so you may want to be prepared for that.

The Iberia staff were not of the 'warm and cuddly' variety, but there again, nor were the BA staff and it's such a short flight I'm not sure anybody cares.

iberia is spains national airline. not some dodgy cheap lot. youll be fine.

a few years ago, i did a project which involved frequent travel to madrid. we used both iberia and ba and at the time (eight years ago so not sure how relevant now!) i much preferred iberia. better service and no noticeable difference in timeliness etc.

Thanks Issy

We are IBERIA both ways though.

Thanks for the warnings re delays

I don;t care what the "authorities" say I'm convinced that national airlines get priority slots in their own country. So Iberia less likely tha BA to be delayed by spanish landing lsots, BA less likely in UK.

I've flown them - they're Ok, as everyone says - short flight who cares!

RTKangaMummy · 23/07/2007 16:05

Oh ok I didn't realise about it being Spain's national airline

Thanks for telling me
