Going to Paros, Greece for a week?

Argh! I’ve done it again. I’ve fallen in love with a holiday destination without realising how awkward it is to reach.

Is it worth going to Paros with only a week? Due to where we live, getting reasonable fares to Santorini/Mykonos to catch the ferry out would mean a 3-4 hour drive to the airport. Then when finally in Santorini or Mykonos, a ferry of an hour or so to Paros.

We have 7-9 days available in late August. Is it worth all this hassle to get to Paros? Or should we just suck it up and go to a commercialised Greek island like Rhodes or Kos?

I really like the cycladic architecture, and it seems so reasonable compared to places such as Lindos!

Paros is beautiful and totally worth the effort. Have also been to Lindos. What about flying to Athens? Ferry is longer but flights might be cheaper?

Fly to Athens then take a flight to Paros. Takes about 40 minutes.

Agree with flying via Athens, use Aegean Airlines they are superb and you don't have to faff with luggage at the changeover. I did it to Crete and it was great service. The second leg took 40 minutes and they still gave us complimentary drink and snacks in that time!

And Paris is divine.

And Paris is divine.

So is ParOs. Grin

Flights to Athens seem more expensive than ones to Mykonos or Santorini. Plus, if you book a flight onwards with a different airline, what if your original flight is delayed?

It’s beautiful there :) windy, though

Paris will be worth it . You can get the two flights but book asap .
Ferry is five hours only taken it when flights booked . Have you looked at the hydra foil (so)

allgoodinthehood · 08/06/2019 15:31

Paros obviously

Andafalonia, if you book it all through Aegean, you are covered for delays. Also if you use different airlines you have to get your luggage at Athens and do security with luggage again. (If you are coming from the UK you are entering a Schengen country from a non Schengen area. ) When we went, Aegean met and escorted us through because we were delayed and we got to the gate 5 minutes before it closed. They actually held the Mykonos flight for people coming to Athens with us, it should have left 15 minutes before. If we'd missed it they would have put us on the next flight.

I'd never use two airlines personally, I'd rather pay a bit more. If cost is an issue, get the ferry it'll be cheap.
