Which is the best Champagne house to visit?

We're travelling through the Champagne region this summer and thinking of stopping off to visit a champagne house. We'd like one that's family friendly and maybe have the opportunity to visit the vineyard too.

In the past we've visited Mercier (which I loved) and Taittinger and Moet and Chandon so looking to do something different this time.

Any recommendations?

If you've got the time drive along the Champagne trail ( www.tourisme-en-champagne.co.uk/champagne-trail - it's signed with touristy sign-posts). It takes you through various vineyards and pretty villages, and past any number of smaller producers you've never heard of, and will never hear of again. Many of them have "dégustation" (tasting) and the opportunity to wonder around the cellar, often guided by the owner or winemaker themselves.

Ruinart was our ultimate favourite pre children...but Mercier the most child friendly!! We go every year on the way back from south of France and now what we do (with 5 year old) is got to the square in Reims and buy a local bottle from the shop (they have take away glasses - shop near the cathedral) and chill in the square or go to a local tasing house/cellars in Haute Villiers.

Following as we are doing same this summer - but with a dog in tow! Apparently a few tours are doggy friendly so we'll have to check out that with the tourist office..we are staying in Reims centre for a few days enroute from Alsace Lorraine and the Riesling vineyards to Normandy so hopefully we'll have a chance to relax over a 🥂 ...
