Need somewhere to stay for 3 nights with 17 and 13 yr old DS. Want to be easy access/walking of La Ramblas, cathedral, gaudi park, beach, and Noucamp stadium. Coukd also do with a pool as August so hot. Anyone able to recommend? I've seen several on city breaks but don't know how far out they are.

I always go for the chains in big cities (Novotel/Holiday Inn) etc.

Hotel CATALONIA BORN. Went.last week with a friend for 3 nights. We loved it. Small rooftop pool. Good location. Nice friendly staff.

May not be what you are looking for but Erik Vogel apartments are good. No pool unfortunately but the advantage of a bit more living space.

Close to the metro (2 mins) and also some local restaurants if you don't want to go back into town in the evening. Walking distance to Sagrada Famila.

H10 hotels are always good. We stayed at H10 Art Gallery.

We stayed at MH Apartments Liceo www.booking.com/hotel/es/mh-apartments-liceo last week - fabulous location just off the Ramblas. All the places you mention above are not at all near each other so you can't be close to all of them at once. The metro is close. Or the Catedral Bas Apartments are further from the beach but have a roof top plunge pool and are a bit plusher. I would recommend both. Lots of places to grab breakfast nearby.

The metro is really easy to use so getting round should be no problem.

We stayed in Yurrban Passage. Not sure how child friendly it is as I went with DH and no young ones but it was a lovely hotel.
