Has anyone been to Namibia with a young child? I've read that safaris are much cheaper there.we would also travel to Capetown and surrounding areas. We can travel for upto a month early next year . TIA

Namibia is a beautiful country. Very safe, good infrastructure and fabulous wildlife, both in Etosha, and also in the lusher north. I lived there for a happy year, and explored widely and have been back several times. It's a massive pain in the arse to get to from the UK since Air Namibia stopped direct flights. Your best bet is to fly to Joburg and then get a flight up. I'd recommend contacting the fantastic guys at The Cardboard Box Travel ship in Windhoek. They are so friendly, know every corner of the country and can put you a child friendly itinerary together at a fraction of the price of an ( unimaginative) tour from a high end UK firm. If you've got kids of any age, don't miss visiting one of the living museums, run by local groups. They are dotted about the country and you just rock up, but it's a great way to meet Namibians and talk about their traditional and modern way of life. Also, even if you think you just want safari, you don't want to miss the awesome ancient cave art at Twyflfontein, sand surfing in Swakopmund and watching the sun rise over Sosdusvlei. We hope to head back with our kids in 2020, only for a fortnight, you are so lucky to have a month to explore!

Thank you for your help.Flights to Joburg are much cheaper from where I'm coming so will look into separate flights.I' ve had a quick look at the Cardboard Box website and they get great reviews so will contact them.Hope you have an enjoyable holiday there next year.
