BA flight upgrade?

Is there any chance I'll get an email from BA to be able to upgrade my flight? It's only a 4.5 hour European flight, but it's for a special occasion. I regret not going for the upgrade at the booking page! It was £80, but now on the website it says for me to upgrade would be £130.

Would I get a better price if I called BA?

In the past I've had emails from BA for upgrades at decent prices (Club World for £400 from PE). I just called but they have a 25 minute queue, so maybe another time.

Are you a member of the BA Executive club?
I am and after booking a return flight with them, but paying for Club Europe one way, I've had emails as the flight date nears offering me upgrades for the return leg for £40-50 quid.
I think i've also booked economy both legs and had similar emails. I think.
(Never had an upgrade offer for Club World though.)
It might also depend on how many Club seats they've already sold, although on Club Europe they can change the seat configuration quite easily to sell more Club tickets!
You could try calling them and haggling! I'd also keep checking the website as the flight date nears.
Club Europe is quite nice, not nearly as good as Club World, but not always worth the extra unless a/you have lounge access on both legs of your journey (some smaller airports don't have the private lounges) and b/ you make reasonable use of the free alcohol and snacks served in them. Usually you just help yourself. I generally have a couple of large gins, coffee and sandwiches or snacks. DH will start with some nuts or crisps, two or three expensive beers and then more or less a full meal. He likes to get his money's worth. ☺️

Tartyflette sounds like you have the ideal way of doing it all worked out darling! I'm just hoping for an email giving an offer of 40-50 so I can upgrade dp and I and treat him for his birthday:P

Just rang them and they are looking £169 each! Sad . Apparently if you upgrade via call it costs an extra £30!
