Glasgow to Devon

Hi. We've booked a holiday in Devon at the start of July and will be driving down from Glasgow. Any recommendations of places to stop on the way down? Possibly overnight, undecided yet. Have 2 kids, 12 and 3.

With a 3 year old, I’d definitely do the drive from Glasgow to Devon over two days. Birmingham is about half way for you and it’s where we often stop on our journey too. In the past we’ve done the West Midlands Safari Park and stayed at The Mercure in Kidderminster www.wmsp.co.uk/where-to-stay/ Cadbury World is not much of a detour either and we stayed at Holiday Inn in Redditch. Alton Towers is a good stop over but you really need a full day in the park, so it’s a two night stay. We’ve also broken the journey without a ‘day out’ as such, and instead splashed out with w more expensive hotel with children’s facilities including play areas www.thebelfry.co.uk/en-gb/families

Thanks so much for your reply @Ricekrispie22, I'll have a look at these and discuss with my OH.

we just did Dorset to Dundee, and I'd advise getting off the M5 to the M42 to the M6Toll to completely avoid spaghetti junction, what a difference that made to us!

Probably be good the other way too, but when we went down we stopped at Gretna and had to stop near Telford so we scooted past the M5/M6 spaghetti junction on the way down too!

Telford and Iron Bridge area looked very pretty so we may well stop thereabouts another time.

Thank you @MsMightyTitanAndHerTroubadours, I'll look in to that too
