City break in October

I'd like to go somewhere warm at October half term with a friend from Florida. Ideally lots of historic and cultural stuff to look at and we like to swim outside. Any ideas? Bonus points if she can fly there cheaply with Norwegian!

Porto is great and was warm in October. We got a bus to the beach and then walked a fair but back in along the coast and the continued by bus back to the town. I didn't swim though!
It was really cheap to get to ( (£28 return pp last October from Manchester) but I cant remember who with, either EasyJet or Ryanair ( easyjet I think)

Budapest is lovely, and you could swim in the Gellert Hotel pool which although inside is worth it!

Not sure how warm it will be, but if your friend is from Florida they might enjoy experiencing a changing season......

Barcelona is cool. Has a beach and we stayed in a hotel with a rooftop pool.

Went to Madrid last year and loved it. Loads to do and great food!

Venice in autumn is lovely.

Great ideas, thanks!

Think the pool swimming is more likely than the sea in all those places, nice to have a paddle thoygh

Definitely Barcelona. City and beach. We've been there in November before and swum in the sea.

Greece is nice weather in October. Athens or Santorini.

Obvious choice would be one or more of Malaga, Granada, Seville, Cordoba or many other places in Andalucia. Masses of historical and cultural stuff, almost certainly still warm.

Probably best choice of cheap flights to Malaga, but there are some to Seville or Granada depending on where you start from and transport around by train or coach is cheap and easy to arrange online.
