Is it common for men in Barcelona (or similar areas) to stare?

Hi all,

I recently visited Barcelona recently with my partner. I never usually get a lot of stares in England but all throughout Barcelona I was being constantly stared at by men. 5'11 and blonde with blue eyes. I I wondered if its the blonde thing but it was only men staring. I was also dressed normally with a vest top, jacket and trousers.

Is this a cultural thing to stare in this way?

Has anyone else experienced something similar perhaps in a different country?

I found it very uncomfortable but I suppose its a cultural difference.

Yes it's common unfortunately. I had the same in Barcelona and in other southern countries like Italy. Paris was also really bad. It's a cultural difference, but not a good one!

I was overtly stared at in Madrid. It was a little disconserting, but I put it down to cultural differences and the fact that I am typically very pale English rose, tall, curvy and tattooed, so quite unusual looking to the typical Spaniard.

Had the same in Philadelphia. Annoying
