Days out over half term

Planned to be away at half term but DH not well so plans are all a bit in the air. Now thinking of different things to do including a day or two in London with the kids. They are 9 (DS) and 11 (DD) and want to make it a bit of an adventure by going on the train. We aren't too far from London. Have done the things like Buckingham Palace, River Cruise and Houses of Parliament in the past. DD loves a bit of history. Anyone got any recommendations of what's good for this age and if there are any deals out there? Otherwise gets really expensive.

The Churchill War Rooms are 2for1 with National Rail train tickets. Likewise for the amazing Red Arrows 3D Flight Simulator at the Sciencr Museum, which my DS loved.

Hi there thanks so much for this info. Sorry for the late reply - it all got a bit busy in the end. I kept getting these ads on my FB about something called Keetoo so I decided to check it out.

Basically you can go to any two attractions they have listed for £35 (as an adult) and £20 for a child all through your mobile phone. We ended up at The Tower of London and did a bus tour. I didn't actually have to book any tickets for the specific venues and just turned up. I always get a bit nervous as to whether these things are real but it worked really well. The best bit was I was a bit unwell on the day we had originally planned to go in. I just didn't have the energy to walk around London but it's valid for a year from when you first buy it so we went a couple of days later.

Anyway thanks again - I'll certainly look at Churchill War Rooms and the 3D Flight Simulator next time round.
