January weekend city break

I am planning a weekend city break for my DP birthday in January which is also the same weekend as our anniversary. I have googled 'best city breaks January' and 'different city breaks January' but would like some suggestions please. I have been looking at flights to Valencia and Seville, which both seem reasonable.

We are currently in the process of moving home so I don't want to go crazy with money!

Where is good for a January city break.

Thanks

Seville is great, one of my favourite European cities. Accommodation prices are low in January, but a good chance of mild and sunny weather. Gets cold at night though, so go for somewhere with heating

Porto is also great and inexpensive, can be wet in winter though.

ah, perfect thanks buttermilk, I will set up some flight alerts and keep an eye on accommodation - with heating!!

I'd go somewhere snowy and try to see the Northern Lights!

I'd love to go here.

that looks beautiful FanSpam but not really what i'm looking for with this break. Id love to go somewhere like that but I think when DP & I plan it together.

We go to southern Spain in January and have had beautiful weather, although it is cold at night, what about Barcelona or Valencia.

Malaga is a beautiful city. Many visitors don't even see it, fly in to the airport and travel out to the costas.

I second Malaga.

Also, Rome. We had a brilliant time there in December.

Thank you for all the suggestions. I will have a look at them all! I did ask him for all of the European cities he had been too already in the hope I could pick somewhere different so I think maybe Valencia, Seville or Malaga may be the ones to focus on now.

Seville . We went for the new year for a few days .Stayed there for sightseeing , got the train to Cadiz which was lovely , people swimming in the sea . Hired a car and drove into Portugal to Tavira and sat in the sunshine .

My dsis and ds went to Lisbon in February last year and said it was lovely and also quite economical , except for the hotel but that’s because neither of them does less than 4/5*
