Holiday recommendations

Looking for a good holiday destination for me and the fella in July. Somewhere hot, chilled with sea close by. Anyone recommend any places/hotels?

Sicily, baking hot when we went in July, but of history if you like that sort of thing and a massive volcano to climb (top tip, don't wear sandals, volcanic rock is rather sharp when is flicks up inside!!!). Crete - Aphrodite Beach Hotel is, as it says, right on a hot sandy beach in Kissamos near Chania & it's beautiful there
