Pre-baby holiday - where and when would you go?

Baby #1 is due in mid December so this summer / autumn will be our last holiday as a couple for a good few years and I’m keen to make the most of it and do something that wouldn’t be easy with a baby. Advice seems to be that the second trimester is the best time to go. Our top three trips have been Vancouver - Calgary through the Rockies, San Francisco - Vegas, and a combined Hong Kong and South Korea trip so we aren’t afraid to cover some distance (though I realise I might not feel great, depending on timing).

Here are some ideas we are discussing:
Seattle to San Francisco (end August / early September)
Iceland (ideally late Sept or even October for northern lights chances)
Scotland - could go into October as we would drive not fly
Amalfi Coast - probably September though I’m told it’s still busy then.

Any thoughts on any of these, or any alternative suggestions? I’m finding it really hard to narrow down. Iceland and Scotland we could probably do with the baby so I’m leaning to the US, but it is a long flight and long drives and I don’t know how I’ll be feeling.

coach trips are good if you want to get and see places with your man! Or a trip from hotels to the beach I have done the cruise you get on the cruiser and get off waring you out?

I’d probably do Iceland. I have been and it was amazing. Hiking up to the tops of waterfalls and swimming in thermal springs - I definitely don’t think we could have done it with a baby.

My SIL went to Iceland recently and said it was the most incredible experience.

Do you like Spain? Nice in half boarded Hotels don't miss out on some night entertainment?

I’m 24 weeks and just did 10 days in Crete. 4 hour flight and about an hour either side in airport transfers. I just about managed but I was very uncomfortable travelling compared to usual.

I would try and keep the journey as short as you can. It may be more uncomfortable than you might think.

Thanks everyone for the advice - interesting that there are two votes for Iceland. It’s definitely on our want to visit list.

@Daffodil2018 - thanks for the thought that Iceland would be hard with a baby, I hadn’t really thought of how we’d take a baby on a hike just about the relatively short drives round the island over a couple of weeks. Though hiking at 20-something weeks pregnant might be a bit of a challenge too!

@apemanwoman1 we do like Spain but we can definitely do that with a baby (in fact we have a villa there in mind for our first family holiday Smile) So we probably wouldn’t choose that for our last couple holiday too.

Definitely Amalfi Coast beautiful place and your unlikely to go once baby arrives. We went to the Seychelles when I pregnant with my DD. It was booked before we knew. It was such an amazing and relaxing holiday I was about 5 months at the time.
