Where to have a civilised, yummy, and child-free afternoon tea in London?

Going in a couple of weeks with a Japanese friend. She's a bit of a sucker for famous places etc (I have to put my foot down with Harrods though, on principle).

No, not glamorous journo, just have some clients who are based near there and have gone there when all their meeting rooms have been booked up. Unfortunately the nice cakes distracted me from the content of the meetings. Hey ho...

The Palm Court at the Park Lane Hotel is beautiful and the staff are lovely. I am biased though as i had my afternoon tea wedding reception there

I've only ever had 'posh tea' at Harrods but it was lovely .
